The Department of Labor (DOL) serves to foster and promote the welfare of job seekers, wage earners, and retirees of the United States by improving their working conditions, advancing their opportunities for profitable employment, protecting their retirement and health care benefits, helping employers find workers, strengthening collective bargaining, and tracking changes in employment, prices and other national economic measures. The Department’s budgetary resources ensures the operation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Mine Safety and Health Administration, and Unemployment Insurance amongst other organizations.
